BLS-KB13-X12
Introduction

The Verizon Actiontec MI424-WR router may cause communication issues with the Bluesound Players. By default the router’s settings should work fine with Bluesound Players. If settings are changed the following should be checked.

If problems persist, Verizon has acknowledged limitations on their NAT table with more than 10 network devices (regardless of manufacturer) and have suggested exchanging the router for a newer version.

Scenario

If Players keep dropping off the network and Players can’t upgrade this should be checked to fix the problem. IGMP Proxy interferes with the BluOS firmware. Verizon’s IGMP (Multicast) is designed for devices that do not require a Multicast Routing Protocol. This Multicast system is not supported by the Bluesound Players and it should be disabled to ensure proper communication between Players on the network.

Configuration
  • Go to Advanced
  • Respond Yes to the Do you want to Proceed? warning
  • Select IGMP Proxy
  • At the top of the list IGMP Proxy (Enable/Disable), make sure its set to Disabled.

Notes

For settings to take affect the router needs to be power cycled. Turn it off and back on to power cycle the router.
