Adding a Network Share

Bluesound Players will pull music from an existing digital Music Library across the network using Windows SMB File Sharing (SAMBA). You will however need to point the Bluesound Player to the Library. To do this, open the BluOS App on a smartphone, tablet or PC;

  • From the Rooms Drawer, select any desired Player
    • A Vault will index fastest as it is a wired connection and hosts a portion of the index locally
    • If there is no Vault, a wired Player will index faster than one connected only by Wi-Fi
  • From the Navigation Drawer, select Settings, Music Library, Network Shares
  • Select Find Network Shares
  • Check the Music Folder Name for all desired Shares and click Add selected shares
  • If the desired Shares do not appear select Enter share manually
  • If you selected Enter share manually, enter \\{name-of-computer}\{share-path} in the Enter Share Name field
    • {name-of-computer} can be substituted by NetBIOS name or the computer’s IP Address
    • {share-path} has been expanded as of BluOS®12.0 to include subdirectories and not just the share name itself. BluOS® 1.10.3 and earlier is limited to only the network share name.
  • Enter the User and ID and password if required
  • Press Add network shares
  • Reindex will begin automatically
    • The Play/Pause Button on the Bluesound Player will turn from Blue to White
    • Progress can be monitored in the Navigation Drawer of the selected Player
  • When indexing is completed the Play/Pause Button will return to solid Blue; select Library from the Navigation Drawer to access the collection

Upon completion of configuring a network share, the Bluesound Player will, in the background, pass a notification to all other Bluesound Players on the network that it has connected to a new Music Source.

Removing a Network Share

To remove an existing share from a Bluesound Player open the BluOS App on a smartphone or tablet;

  • From the Rooms Drawer, select any desired Player
    • A Vault will index fastest as it is a wired connection and hosts a portion of the index locally
    • If there is no Vault, a wired Player will index faster than one connected only by Wi-Fi
  • From the Navigation DrawerSettings, Music Library, Network Shares
  • From the list of connected shares, check the shares that are to be removed and click Remove selected shares
  • Reindex will begin automatically
    • The Play/Pause Button on the Bluesound Player will turn from Blue to White
    • Progress can be monitored in the Navigation Drawer of the selected Player
  • When indexing is completed the Play/Pause Button will return to solid Blue; the shares contents are removed from the Library source in the Navigation Drawer
